KIMBALL – A seriously ill child will receive some joy from the Kimball Eagles Jan. 29 fundraiser for the Make.A.Wish Foundation.

The proceeds from last Thursday’s hamburger night at Eagles were donated to the Make.A. Wish Foundation. About 54 orders were served up and  $350 were raised for the charitable fund.

Eagles State President Bob Shores dropped in on the hamburger night to help promote his favorite project, the Make.A.Wish Foundation. Shore lives in Alliance. He was accompanied by the state Eagles Auxiliary President, Sharon S. Brown of Gering.

Shore said, “The Nebraska Eagles have helped seven seriously ill Nebraska children see their  wish come true since last June.”

He told how the Nebraska Eagles have helped Cody, who is seriously ill with a copper deficiency, spend a day as bat boy for the Chicago Cubs. Makala suffers from an immune deficiency and the Eagles saw to it that she got to visit Disney World. Lane has leukemia and the Eagles made his Disney World wish come true.

Lexi has dysphasia and she got to meet celebrity chef Rachael Ray with the help of the Eagles and Make.A.Wish. Jayson with brain stem glioma took a Disney cruise. TJ has heart problems and he was able to visit Disney World with help of the Eagles and the Make.A.Wish Foundation.

Aiedan suffers from seizures and the Eagles helped this child get playground equipment. And the list will grow as the Nebraska Eagles help more children who are seriously ill realize their wish.

Average cost for fulfilling these wishes is in the range of $6,200 each.

Shore is motivated by the tragic death of a granddaughter who was seriously ill and wanted to visit Disney Land. Her condition deteriorated so rapidly that this was not possible. Her loving relatives gave her a Princess Party in her hospital room not long before her tragic death.

Kimball residents desiring to contribute to this worthy project through the Nebraska Eagles can still do so by contacting Sharon Brown at 308-436-4646.
