POTTER – With Lance Juelfs hitting a double/double in the first quarter of the game and their  overall desire not to be swept by rival Banner County, the Potter-Dix Coyotes tamed the Wildcats 54-46 at home on Friday during regular M.A.C. play.

The Coyotes went on Saturday to improve their record to an even .500 (7-7) by defeating Minatare 49-29.

Juelfs, who was a monster on the boards and in the net, electrified the home crowd as he wracked up 24 points and 20 rebounds against Banner County.

Jordon Ottoson also rocked the Wildcats with quality shooting as he drilled home 10 points, to help Juelfs’ cause.

The Coyotes took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led 32-22 by the half.

The Wildcats tried to rally in the third cutting the Coyote lead to six. But it was the Coyotes who defended their den, and went on to outscore the Wildcats 13-11 in the final frame to get the win.

Potter-Dix was led in scoring by Juelfs with 24, Ottoson had 10, Josh Holz had 8, Nick Jones had 5, Jeremy Gasseling had 4, and Jay Welch rounded it out with 3.

Potter-Dix will be on the road this weekend as they travel to Garden County on Friday and then Sedgewick County, Colo. on Saturday.

The Coyotes have yet to play Garden County this year and lost soundly to a very tall Sedgewick County to open the season.
