George A. Wallesen, 75, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Monday, January 26, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Kimball Cemetery with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Friends wishing to sign the register book may do so on Friday from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.  Memorials may be given to either KHS Foundation or MHC Hospice. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.George Allen Wallesen was born in Bayard, Neb., on December 1, 1933, the son of Howard and May (Hill) Wallesen.  George attended country schools north of Bayardand received his high school education from the Bayard High School. He joined the United States Army in 1955 and served his country until January of 1958. His time in the service was spent in Germany, and while there he had the opportunity to visit several other countries. George moved to Kimball in 1958. George was married to Sue Bushor in Kimball on Sept. 3, 1961, and to this union 2 daughters were born. He worked at and managed several service stations in the area for the next 40 years. When he retired in 1998, one thing that he really missed was visiting and spending time with his customers. He also worked at the Wheelers Store and also at Wolf Automotive in the service department until ill health forced him to retire again in 2008. He served on the NRD Board for many years and was a member of the Lions Club and was in charge of the community garden program for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time looking for arrowheads. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.Survivors include his wife Sue Wallesen of Kimball; daughters Lynne (Mike) Hickox of Gillette, Wyo. and Marci (Jared) Muneio of Kimball; brothers Wally (Mary) Wallesen of Anagors, Neb. and William (Sheryl) Wallesen of Dalton, Neb.; grandchildren Kari Hickox and Anthony, Alan and Ryan Muneio.  His parents, step-father Steve Karnes, sister Paula Gordon and an infant brother preceded him in death.
