Lois Thayer, 83 of Sidney, Nebraska died late Saturday afternoon, February 14, 2009 at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with the Rev. Dr. Charles Alkula officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenwood  Cemetery.Memorials have been established to the Dr. James E. Thayer and Dr. James D. Hagemeister in Kimball, Nebraska. Lois was raised in Potter, Nebraska and graduated from Potter  High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Willard Sorority, and graduated from Medical Technical School at Lincoln General  Hospital. She worked at the University of Nebraska Medical Center preparing tissue slides for the Anatomy Department students to study.Lois was united in marriage to her grade school sweetheart and love of her life, James Earl Thayer, on September 10, 1945, in Hattiesburg,  Mississippi. The couple moved to Sidney, Nebraska in 1952.Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sidney and has been a member of many boards and circles through the years. She was a 50 year member of P.E.O. Chapter FR. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Ladies Golf League. She enjoyed and treasured friendships made through the years in Bridge and Coffee Clubs. Lois had so many interests, including antiquing and quilting. She truly loved people and truly never met a stranger.She was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved and delighted in her husband, children and their spouses, and grandchildren. She filled the house with love, music, and laughter.She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James E. Thayer of Sidney; daughters Deborah Boe (Thomas) of Frankfort, IN, Linda Boval (Lawrence) of Coto de Caza, CA, sons James D. (Deborah) of Sidney, and John B. (Jennifer) of Reno, NV., grandchildren Jarrod Boe, Jenny Bragg (Chadd), Ben Thayer, Tess Thayer, Brett Boval, and Brandon Boval and brother Robert M. Hagemeister of Wichita, KS.She was preceded in death by her parents Rose I. and Dean W. Hagemeister, sister Jo Ann Hagemeister, and brother William Hagemeister.Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is in charge of arrangements.
