High Point Motor Speedway has announced their 2009 schedule. This marks the first season of operation at this new Kimball facility. Motocross racing will be the first phase of the operation. Work on the motocross track is underway now. The operation will be expanded to included a drag strip and all necessary facilities as development proceeds.Motocross is a descriptive word derived from motorcycle and cross country. A more familiar term would be “dirt bikes.”The motocross schedule starts with a Fun Day on April 26 and runs through October 11. All told, 19 days of activity are scheduled.The first competitive event will be a Tri-State Dirt Racers circuit race over the weekend on May 2 and 3. Tri-State tracks are located in Alliance, Mitchell, Sidney and Wauneta, Nebraska as well as Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming.Races for various age groups will be part of the race day schedule. The TSDR regulations say bikes ridden by adult racers can have motor specifications of no more than 250 cc.One of the most visible tracks in the area is the Valley Dirt Riders track located along I-25 a few miles south of Ft. Collins, Colo.Spectator admission to the grounds is listed at five dollars. The track is located on State Highway 71 about one mile south of the I-80 X Hwy 71 interchange.Greg Dinges is President of the HPMS Board of Directors, Wade Kiefer is Executive Vice President and Todd Voel is Vice President.
