After compiling the final results of the 2008 Kimball High football season, Coach Gene Mohr saw members of this year’s team write their names into the school record books. Senior Charles Ferguson took over the top spot in career receiving catches with 65 for 966 yards and a 14.6 average per catch, moving ahead of Russ Moore, who had 28 career catches for 752 yards.Colton Daum, a senior team mate of Ferguson, moved into the No. 3 spot with 35 catches for 601 yards and a 17.2 average.Senior Ryan Gregory with his 12 catches moved into a tie for the No. 33 spot with Steven Burback at 147 yards. Ferguson was good at catching the opponents passes as well with nine career interceptions which tied the mark set by Ted Wilson back in 1975. Daum is tied for the No. 5 spot with 3 career interceptions with several other former Kimball High players. Gregory now holds the number 27 spot for career rushing with 757 yards on 177 attempts for a 4.28 yard average. In case you are wondering who holds the number one spot, it is John McConnell with 2611 yards on 492 career rushes for a 5.3 yard average.How about this stat. Kendall Ferguson, only a sophomore, now holds the Kimball High career passing record with 1860 on 223 attempts with 115 completions and only 8 interceptions, completing 52 percent of his passes for 19 touchdowns. He moved ahead of Joel Staehr who held the record of 1705 career yards with 99 completions on 223 attempts with 13 interceptions and 17 touchdowns while completing 44 percent of his passes. Joel went on to quarterback at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. K. Ferguson has two years to add to his school record.  Other outstanding performances that moved players from this past year’s team in the top list include Daum taking over the No. 2 spot for kick returns in a single game with a 97 yard return against Hershey, just one yard shy of the school record set by Moore against Alliance in 1974. Gregory moved into the No. 33 spot for career tackle points with 74 solo tackles and 74 assists for 225 points. The career tackle leader is Kurt Brower with 177 tackles and 97 assists for 451 points with his career ending in the 1989 season.
