Arlene Joy Barrett Vencill, 85, of Kimball, passed away at Kimball County Manor on Wednesday, April 8, 2009.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with the Reverend Roger Gillming officiating. Burial followed at the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home Friday morning from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kimball Manor or to a charity of the donor’s choice.She was born August 21, 1923 in Kimball, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Winslow) Barrett.  She attended school and graduated from Kimball High School in 1942. While attending high school she met Rolland Vencill. They were married at Coeur de Laine, Idaho on September 10, 1942. They would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. Rollie had enlisted in the United Stated Air Force and Arlene made their home wherever he was stationed. Upon his discharge from the service, the Vencill’s made their home in Denver. Arlene volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Swedish Hospital in Denver for 14 years. In November of 2007, due to Arlene’s health, they decided to move to Kimball in order to be closer to their families.Arlene is survived by her husband Rolland; one sister, Norma Lee (Jack) Carmichael of Oregon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Earl and Glenn, and one sister Donna Jean Zavoral.
