The Potter-Dix Coyote girls track team finished way out in front of the eight team field at the Storm Invite held at Chappell on April 17. The Coyote girls were first with 151 points, well ahead of Crawford’s 96 point second place showing.The Coyote boys ended up seventh in the field, with Burns taking first place.Garden County, Leyton, Pine Bluffs and South Platte also took part in addition to the host school, Creek Valley.Taylor Holz was a one girl gang,  taking first in the 100 meter dash in 13:23, the 100 m hurdles in 17:26 and winning the long jump with a leap of 15-25. Tiffany La Beau won the 300 m hurdles in 54:12, Kayla Johnson took the triple jump with an effort of 29-11.75, Brandy Hermes leap of 5-0 was a first place winner in the high jump and Sam Egging  put the shot  to a first place showing of 30-10.5.The 4x100 m relay team of Holz, Johnson, Brandy Newbanks and Hermes won that event in 1:03.69.Second place finishers were Newbanks in the 100 m hurdles and Maranda Heitman in the 800 m run.The Coyote girls relay teams came in second in the 4x400 and 4x800 events. LaBeau, Catie Haller, Stephanie Mitchell and Hermes ran the 4x400. Dani Jones, Heitman, Kristyn Barnes and C. Haller did  the 4X800.Jones also tied for second in the high jump.Hermes finished third in the 200 m dash, Johnson was third in the long jump and LaBeau took third in the triple jump.Natoria Wheelock was fourth in the shot put and sixth in the discus event.C. Haller was fifth in the grueling 3200 m run.On the boys side, John Newbanks and Dustin Brown tied for fourth place in the 400 m dash, both clocking it in 59:14. The Coyote boys 4X400 relay team also finished fourth in 4:18.08.Ty Ottoson was fifth in the triple jump and Dustin Brown finished fifth in the high jump.Sixth place finishes went to Newbanks in  the 100 m dash, Ottoson in the 300 m hurdles and Brown was sixth in the 800 m run. The Coyotes next meets are April 21 at Wallace, April 25 at Pine Bluffs and Best of the West in Scottsbluff on the 28th.COYOTE GIRLS RACE TO FIRST PLACEThe Potter-Dix High School girls track team took first place in the twelve team Wallace Invitational held in Sutherland on April 21. The Coyote girls scored 119 points with host school Wallace a distant second with 70 points.Taylor Holz continues to be a dominate force, taking first place in the 100 m hurdles in 17.18 seconds and the 200 m dash in 27.97. Holz paced second in the long jump and ran the first leg of Potter-Dix’s first place 4X100 relay finish. Kayla Johnson, Brandy Newbanks and Brandie Hermes made up the rest of this  relay team.Hermes also leaped to first place in the high jump with a 5-0 effort.Second place finishers were  Brandy Newbanks in  the 100 m hurdles and Tiffany LaBeau in the 300 m hurdles. Kayla Johnson came in second in the triple jump and Dani Jones was second in the high jump.The Coyote 4X400 relay team of Labeau, Catie Haller, Jones and Hermes ran to a second place finish.Hermes placed third in the 400 m dash. The Coyote 4X800 relay team of Jones, Maranda Heitman, Kristyn Barnes and C. Haller also came in third.Fourth place finishers were LaBeau  in  the 100 m dash and triple jump, Jones in the 1600 m run and Stephanie Mitchell in the high jump. Heitman was fifth in the 800 m run and Sam Egging was sixth in the shot put.The Coyote boys finished tenth in the field of twelve. Ty Ottoson was the chief Potter-Dix point scorer with fourth place finishes in  the 110 m high hurdles,  the 300 m hurdles and the triple jump.Dustin Brown ran fourth in the 800 m run and Kendall Sage was fifth in the long jump.The Coyotes will next compete in the MAC meet in Chappell on May 2.POTTER DIX GIRLS SCORE BIGThe Potter Dix High School Coyotes girls track team did just fine at the Cheyenne County Invitational track meet held in Sidney on April 27.The Coyote girls finished first in four events and second in two others..Taylor Holz continued to dominate as she won  the 100 meter hurdles in 17:13 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 15-4.Brandie Hermes finished first in the demanding 400 meter dash in a time of 1:05.Tiffany LaBeau took another first place with her win in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 51:71.A second place finish was earned by Brandy Newbanks in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17:63.The 4x400 meter relay team of Kristyn Barnes, Maranda Heitman, Dani Jones and Catie Haller finished second, running the course in 4:47.14.Other Coyote point winners were fifth place finishes in the long jump by Newbanks with a 13-1 jump, Barnes with a time of 1:13.07 in the 400 meter dash while Sam Eggiing threw the discus 78-1.5.Kaylee Johnson earned a point with her sixth place high jump of 12-10 and Haylee Haller came in sixth in t he 1600 meter run with a time of 7:05.63.
