An evening of fun, humor, and absolute Suessieness is about to take place on May 8 and 9 at the Harry McNees auditorium as the students of Kimball High School prepare to open their spring musical. The musical of the year is Suessical- a show that draws on the extensive repoirtoir of characters from the books of famous children’s author Dr. Suess. The story is based loosely on Horton Hears a Who. It takes the famous elephant on ride through many of the Dr. Suess stories and has him interacting with characters such as the Lorax, General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, Gertrude McFuzz and the Wickersham Brothers, just to name a few. The story opens with an empty stage save for a red and white hat and a young character named Jojo, played by Rachel Moeser. Jojo looks at the hat and begins pondering what or who the hat could belong to before being surprised by a black and white cat that walks and talks. The cat, obviously The Cat in the Hat who is played by Lyle Janicek, claims the hat  and begins to create the world of Dr. Suess with a rendition of “Oh the Thinks you Can Think!” The Cat in the Hat serves as the narrator for the play. As the first act begins to take shape, the cat thrust Jojo into the world of the Whos and the play begins to unfold. In total it is two acts of true Suess.Tickets are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce, the high school or any one of the many students in the play.
