Gene D. Bowman, 77, of Kimball, died at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009.   Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Donella Silveira officiating. Burial was held in the Kimball Cemetery. Military graveside honors preformed by Kimball VFW Post #2243. Friends were able to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.  Memorials have been established to either the First English Lutheran Church or Kimball Health Services.  Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.Gene Duane Bowman was born in Denver, Colorado on October 15, 1931, the son of Vernon and Neoma (Collicott) Gallatin.  He moved with his family at an early age to Cheyenne and then to Kimball and graduated from the Kimball High School.   He enlisted in the US Navy on November 14, 1949 and served his country during the Korean War.  He was married to Shirley Stahla in Kimball on June 3, 1951. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 13, 1953.  Gene worked in the oil fields in and around Kimball during the oil boom. The family moved to Cheyenne in 1956 where Gene worked for Meadow Gold.  They moved back to Kimball in 1959 to run the Burger Inn, he also worked at various other jobs in Kimball. He retired in 1992. He enjoyed carving, camping, fishing, boating and riding his motorcycle.  His family and friends were very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them whenever he could.  Gene and his wife Shirley had a fairy tale marriage. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife Shirley of Kimball; son Tom (Linda) Bowman of Cheyenne, Wyo; daughters Debby (Ron) Rawalt of North Platte,  Carol (Paul) Mazo of Savannah, GA., Sharon (Dennis) Deboodt of Kimball. and Kathy (Tim) Wistrom of Kimball; brother Jim (Gail) Bowman of Grand Junction, Colo; sister Jan Bowman of Anchorage, Alaska; 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His parents, brother Ron Bowman and sister Dorothy Gallatin preceded him in death
