The Kimball High Golf Team wound up 11th in the team standings of the Nebraska Boy’s Class C Golf Tournament this past week at the Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney. Coach Aaron Delhay and his team were hoping for a higher finish, but with everyone on the team returning, things look bright for the Longhorns next year, and for years to come. Kimball shot a 689 total over the two days scoring 345 on day one and 344 on the final round. Kendall Ferguson and Michael Robinson tied for top honors for Kimball with identical two day totals of 167. Ferguson shot 84-83=167 and Robinson 85-82=167. Todd O’Hare was 88-84=172, Jeff Greenwood 88-98=186, and Landon Smith 117-95=212. The Class C golfers had to battle cold, wet and wind on Wednesday but had a nice day on day two. The Meadowlark Hills course has lots of hills to contend with and play out of the fairways is a struggle for certain. This year’s team made the trip to the state tournament to keep alive a streak of six consecutive years of state qualifying. With Robinson as a junior this season, Ferguson a sophomore, and the remaining three all freshmen, coach Delhay is certainly looking for even better happenings next year, and for years to come. During the regular season the Horns strung six consecutive team titles together including winning the Western trails Conference championship, and a second place finish at the District Tourney. Kimball High boy’s golf is alive and flourishing!
