The 21st Kimball Oilmen’s Golf Tournament is in the books, and what a gala affair it was. Over sixty golfers participated in the Two Person/Blind Draw/Best Ball tournament and the Shootout on Friday, and a full field of 136 golfers took part in the four person scramble on Saturday. It was amazing to see the parking lots at the Four Winds Golf Course and Kimball Country Club full of out of state license plates from Texas, Washington, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska. On Friday the team of Perry VanNewkirk/Brian Blome won the two person/Blind Draw Best Ball with a score of 60. Rick Soper/ Fred Granillo finished second with their score of 60, and Deb Bohac/ Jeff Anderson took third place honors with their round of 60. Friday night Shootout contestants were divided into two flights going off the front and back nines. Doug Peckham/Jason Hiltibrand were the front nine winners with Randy Guerra/Fred Granolla second, and Nate Saylor/David Page third. Deb Bohac/Randy Kreft won the back nine with Howard Peckham/David Peckham second and Lynn Anthony/Sam Clem third. Bruce Evertson, organizer and host of the Oilmen’s, and his team of Chris Grimland, Kyle Huus, and Patrick with Maverick won the scramble on Saturday with a score of 56. Bill Moore, Ryan  Chunka, Gary Gustasen, Lou Borla shot 57 for second. Howard Peckham, Dave Peckham, Doug Peckham, Jason Hiltibrand were third with 57 Dennis Hemphill, former Kimball High standout athlete and his son Justin Hemphill teamed with Dale Ledet, and Willie Nittles to shoot 58 for fourth. Tim Cleverdon, Kenny Hick, Alex Hale, Mike Schenek shot 59 for fifth and the team of Trevor Frehrichs, Jerry Wamsley, Scott Wamsley, and Dave Fedderson shot 59 for sixth. Along with all of the guests from out of the area, Kimball was well represented as you can tell by the winner list. Jeremy Williams and his Four Winds crew had the course in excellent condition and positive comments from the golfers were plenty. Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and all of his staff did an excellent job of running the various formats, and Bruce Evertson and Lynn Anthony were quick to praise all of these people along with Kimball Country Club manager Julie Whetham and her staff. I think we should thank the weatherman as well as all of the tournament activities went off under fairly sunny and dry skies, contrary to some years. Speaking for the entire community, I want to thank Bruce and his Evertson Companies for bringing this prestigious affair once again to Kimball.
