A memorial service for Donald Irwin Adamson, 77, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Wheatland, Wyoming, with the Reverend Lori Modesitt officiating.  He died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at his home in Wheatland.Donald was born May 20, 1932, in Valentine, Nebraska, the son of George Irwin and Selma Marie (Wickman) Adamson.  He was reared and educated primarily in Cherry County Nebraska, and then later moved to California where he graduated from San Pedro High School in 1950.  Don served in the United States Coast Guard for four years then moved to Cody, Nebraska, where he ranched with his family.  In June of 1953, he married Robbie Jordan in Wilmington, California; and, to this union three children were born.  The couple later divorced.  Don owned a sales barn and worked road construction for Peter Kiewit prior to marrying Joyce (Crane) Steward in October of 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They moved to Wheatland in 1977 and purchased the Motel West Winds, retiring in 1998.  Their retirement years were spent in Wheatland where he was an avid golfer and reader, and enjoyed the occasional trip to Las Vegas.Survivors include three children, Lynn (Roy) Fitzgibbon of Chadron, Nebraska, Pam Ray of Sidney, Nebraska, and Mark (Leesa) Adamson of Valentine, Nebraska; three step-children, Art (Kathy) Steward of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Lois (Bill) Harris of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jeffery Anne (Allen) Baker of Wheatland; two step-sisters, Vivian Henry of California and Diane Barnette of Lincoln, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce on October 23, 2008; a step-son, Melvin Steward Jr.; and a step-brother, Kenneth Gregerson.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Carol Reed, George and Marie Bartholomew, and Lee and Virgie Beatty.Memorials may be sent to the Donald I.
