Gregory Thomas Van Pelt, 24, of Lincoln formerly of Mitchell, NE, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Lincoln.  A memorial service was held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Monument Bible Church in Scottbluff with Pastor Jake Roberts officiating.  Interment of his ashes was held in Sunset Memorial Park following the reception.  A memorial was established to the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry.  The family will also be setting up a memorial for suicide prevention.  Tributes of sympathy may be left at   www.dugankramer.com.Greg was born January 26, 1985 in Scottsbluff to Brad and Janis (Mentink) Van Pelt.  He grew up and attended school in Mitchell.  He participated in basketball and graduated in 2003.  Greg attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene.  Greg loved the Dallas Cowboys, bicycling, basketball, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and had recently begun kickboxing classes.He was a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association.  Greg was currently employed as a dental hygienist in Lincoln.  Greg is survived by his parents, Brad Van Pelt, Gering, NE, and Janis (Ron) Koranda, Mitchell, NE, stepmother Kenna Van Pelt, Gering, NE; sisters, Amanda Van Pelt, Lincoln, NE, and Avery Van Pelt, Gering, NE; brothers, Caleb and Ethan Koranda, Mitchell, NE;  grandparents, George  and Kathy Van Pelt, Kimball, NE and Wayne and Doris Mentink, Bella Vista, AR; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
