James M. Prince, 81, a longtime Kimball resident, died at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.  Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating.  Burial followed in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Memorials have been established to either the Four Winds Golf Association or the Shriners Hospitals.  Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.James Murray Prince was born in Augusta, Maine on September 13, 1928, the son of Harry and Catherine Thomas. Jim moved with his family at an early age to Grand Island and received his early education there.  He then enlisted into St. John’s Military School in Illinois.   He was married to Joyce A. VanGorden in Grand Island, NE on November 26, 1949, and to this union Elizabeth, James and Nancy were born.  Jim worked in banking his whole life. He was in consumer finance in Sioux City, IA and then worked at Packer Bank in Omaha. The family then moved to Kimball and Jim worked at First State Bank in Kimball. Joyce preceded him in death in 1985.  He retired from banking in 2001. He was married to Arlene Fanning on March 7, 1988 in Palm Springs, CA.  Jim enjoyed life, including being outdoors, especially hunting, golf and boating.  He loved being around the oil field and the ranching lifestyle. Jim was very athletic and in his younger years played semi pro baseball.  He was active in the Shriners, Elks, and Rotary and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.Survivors include his wife Arlene of Kimball; son James M. Prince of Denver, CO; daughter Nancy (Kelly) Garrett of Kimball; stepchildren Gary (Gwen) Peters of Kimball and Denise  (Reno) Bingham of Cheyenne, WY; 6 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren; and 6 step grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, daughter Elizabeth Rumsey and a twin brother William Prince.
