“We lost it in the trenches,” said coach Gene Mohr when asked what happened in Friday night’s 34-0 loss at Sidney. “We got out-manned and got blown out up front,” said Mohr. It was also a case of a young and inexperienced line going up against a senior laden Sidney Red Raider crew. It was also a case of a banged up Kimball crew trying to play on hobbling legs, especially in the case of Kimball’s top rusher, junior Jake Daum, who has a badly sprained ankle that may keep him out of action this Friday night at Hershey. Daum gave it all he could but simply wasn’t able to cut and drive off on the injured ankle. Kendall Ferguson had a lot of pressure applied on him as he tried to set up and find open receivers, but the most positive aspect of the contest for Kimball was the connection between Ferguson and sophomore Jeff Greenwood who caught everything he could touch. With only 90 total net yards and minus 37 yards rushing, thanks in large part to Ferguson getting sacked several times, the passing game accounted for 127 yards with Ferguson hitting on 13 of 26 attempts with 2 interceptions. Greenwood had 6 catches for 79 yards, Daum 4 for 24 yards and Michael Robinson 3 for 27 yards. Ferguson was Kimball’s top rusher with 13 yards on 10 carries. Sidney had 14 first downs to 9 for Kimball. The Raiders had 8 penalties for 65 yards and Kimball 4 for 30. Kimball punted 8 times for a 34 yard average and Sidney 3 times for a 35 yard average. The Raiders had 378 yards rushing on 44 carries, were 2 of 9 passing for 52 yards and 430 total yards. They were led in rushing by senior Anthony Isaka with 22 carries for 282 yards. He was still trying for 300 yards in the final plays of the contest. Isaka scored 4 touchdowns on runs of 4, 33, 86, and 38 yards. The Raiders also got a TD run of 10 yards from Tim Nienhuesser and a safety following a high snap to Kimball punter Matt Merryfield that sailed into the end zone where the Raiders recovered. Coach Mohr said, “They had a lot of seniors (12) and this is the same bunch that whipped up on us in the JV games the last couple of years.”“We came back the second half and fought hard. We moved the ball at times. We gave up the long pass early but overall I thought Brady (Land) and Michael (Robinson) did a good job at the corners,” said Mohr, “I thought Jeff (Greenwood) caught the ball well. We will work hard on fundamentals this week and get ready for our trip to Hershey.”Mohr is not certain about the availability of Daum this week and Johnathan Weinmaster suffered a concussion in the Sidney game that leaves him questionable. For you fans who might be wondering, James Ferguson is alright after being carried from the field Friday night and will be ready to go this week. If Daum is unable to go, Robinson may be moved into a running back position according to coach Mohr. Fans should be aware that game time at Hershey will be 6 p.m. Kimball time. From the defensive game stats, Trevor Petersen once again turned in an outstanding effort charting 11 tackles including 6 unassisted with 2 for loss of yardage. Greenwood had 8 tackles with 7 unassisted, Daum 9 tackles, O’Hare 8 with 4 solo, and Ferguson 7. Daum had an interception and O’Hare a fumble recovery. Sidney  7  15  6  6--34Kimball 0   0  0  0--0
