The Kimball High cross country team competed in two meets in as many days this past week taking part in the Scottsbluff Classic on Tuesday of this past week and then off to Ogallala on Thursday. At the Scottsbluff meet ran on the Scottsbluff Country Club course, no team scores were kept and there were no JV divisions with all runners running in a single division for both girls and boys. The girls also ran the same distance as the boys so all times were 5K times for the high school runners.In the girl’s division, Kayli Rageth ran 5th with a time of  21:36 and Kaitlin Moritz was 7th in 22:00 to give the Lady Longhorns a pair of medal winners in the top ten. Hailey Keller was 20th in 24:20, Jordain Gawith 22nd in 24:57, Megan Woods 24th in 25:27, and Dalton Luppen 39th in 34:44. In the boy’s division Shawn Nagel ran 7th with a time of 18:30. Daniel Evertson was 12th in 18:49, Lyle Janicek 22nd in 20:07, Spencer Luppen 31st in 20:45, Robert Eby 35th in 21:03, Patrick Dillon 36th in 21:11, Kyle Gorsuch 43rd in 22:13, Brian Evertson 46th in 25:34, and Caleb Bonnell 47th in 25:57. In the junior high division Laura Flores ran 5th in 13:4 and like always is Kimball’s only girl runner. In the boy’s junior high division, Ryan Muneio ran 4th in 12:40, Mitchell Shields 12th in 13:45, Rowdy Keller 21st in 15:54, and Peyton Dillon 22nd in 16:03. At the Ogallala meet, which like Scottsbluff, was a late evening race, the Kimball girls finished 5th and the Kimball boys 6th in the team standings. Rageth was a top ten finisher once again running 8th with a time of 16:33 over the 4K course. Moritz was 12th in 16:48, Keller 27th in 17:49, Sadie Sullivan 38th in 19:32, Gawith 39th in 19:39, and Woods 40 in 19:43. D. Luppen ran in the JV division and finished 26th in 24:21.Evertson was Kimball’s top boy runner finishing 14th in 18:06 with team mate Nagel 15th in 18:24. Janicek was 32nd in 19:41,  Luppen 39th in 20:16, Robert Eby 41st in 20:39, and Dillon 42nd in 20:40. In the boy’s JV division, Sean Ganskow was 12th in 19:39, Gorsuch 34th in 21:46, B. Evertson 46th in 24:15, and Caleb Bonnell 49th in 25:04.Flores was a top ten finisher in the girl’s junior high race taking 9th place in 6:38 over the one mile course. Ryan Muneio was 5th in the boy’s Junior High race running 5:59. Mitchell Shields was 14th in 6:51, Peyton Dillon 15th in 7:14, and Rowdy Keller 19th in 7:42.Coach Tiffany Culek will take her Longhorn team to Gothenburg today (Thursday) for a 4 p.m. race and will close out the regular season at the Western Trails Conference race being hosted by Gordon on Oct. 9. That race has an 11 a.m. start time and then it is district cross country race time on Oct. 15 at Grant.
