Thomas J. Hofstetter, age 81, of Howland Township, Ohio died at 6:45 am Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.  He was born December 28, 1927 in Cleveland the son of the late Joseph William and Jeannette May (Halliday) Hofstetter.Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors as an electrician for 25 years, retiring in 1980.  After retirement, Tom ran a patient shuttle for Dr. Lazor and served as township park superintendant for Howland Township.  He was one of the founding members of the Howland Defense League.His wife of 55 years, Evelyn Mae Arnold Hofstetter, whom he married April 11, 1953, preceded him in death in May 2008.  Two brothers, Robert and Charles Hofstetter also preceded in death.He is survived by three sons, Thomas J. (Wendy) Hofstetter II of Noblesville, Indiana and Jerald W. “Jerry” (Lorie) and Dennis A. Hofstetter both of Howland; one daughter, Linda Price of Kimball, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, Ohio, where the family  received friends from 5 to 8 pm on  Thursday.  Carroll F. Clapp Lodge masonic services were held at 4:45 pm Thursday.  The funeral service was on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 12:30 pm  at the funeral home, with his grandson, A. J. Hofstetter officiating.  Burial was in Howland Township Cemetery, where military honors were held.The family wishes to thank the staff at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for the excellent care their Dad received and request memorial contributions to the TMH Foundation, 1350 East Market Street, Warren  44482.
