Douglas Frederick, 88, of Kimball, died at the Kimball Health Services on Saturday, October 31, 2009.  Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Father Robert Karnish officiating.  Burial was held in the Kimball Cemetery.  Military graveside honors were preformed by Kimball VFW Post #2243. Christian wake service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball.  Friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m.  Memorials have been established to the Kimball Hospital Foundation or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Douglas Frederick was born in Gretna, Nebraska on October 30, 1921, the son of John and Madge Frederick.  He graduated from the Pleasanton High School in 1940.   He joined the United States Army in 1942 and served his country during WWII in the South Pacific.  He was honorably discharged in 1946.  He moved to Kimball with his dad and farmed south west of Kimball for 40 years.  He was married to Maryann Roberts on March 16, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kimball and together they raised their son and daughter.   He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Kimball VFW Post #2243.Survivors include his wife Maryann of Kimball; daughter Janet Frederick of Thornton, CO; son Allen Frederick of Pahrump, NV; grandson Jon Frederick of Thornton, CO; brothers Lawrence (Ernita) Frederick of Papillion, NE., and John (Betty) Frederick of Grant, NE; sisters Luree Swedberg of El Dorado, KS.,  and Gloria Stone of Peoria, AZ.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jim.
