Coach Tom Perlinski’s comments on the weekend:“At the Torrington Duals we competed against a higher level of competition than we normally see, we competed hard against most teams, but at times we did not wrestle with aggression or confidence. We finished with a dual record of 2-3 an improvement over last season, our second pool was the silver pool rather than the bronze pool that we normally compete in. We also had a narrow, disappointing 34-36 loss to Frederick CO. Shawn Nagel and Trendon Hinton both finished the duals undefeated at 5-0, and demonstrated why they are highly regarded in the region and the state. Shawn was named to the all-tournament team. At the Southeast Tournament we had four wrestlers competing, Dion Fritsche was the lone medal winner placing third. We had a couple of disappointing losses with Zack Sherfey losing in overtime and Nick Komorny losing a couple after being in the lead. As with any first week of competition we have a much better understanding of what we need to improve on, and what we are strong at. We will spend some time this week keeping our arms in on our shots, countering the front headlock, working on finishing in every position. We also need to be better about not giving up the pin. We have to wrestle with more aggression in every position. I was generally pleased with our performance, and was very impressed with the willingness of our wrestlers to compete no matter what weight class I put them. We had several wrestlers compete in a higher weight class all day, and several move up and down. Not a single wrestler complained about the weight class I put them or questioned why they had to move up, and not some one else.

It follows a round robin format so we will get a lot of matches for every wrestler. All wrestlers compete in the same tournament, so we will not have wrestle offs this week. Wrestling begins at 9:30 in HaJrisburg, we hope to see everyone there.
