The Board of Commissioners approved an agreement covering extraordinary snow removal and extraordinary maintenance at their April 20 meeting. These funds are used to offset county expenses in servicing missile roads. The agreement will give payment of $38,168.38 to the county for these items in 2010.

Approval of a liquor license application for Mulligan Steakhouse was granted after a brief public hearing. The vote was 2-1.

The need for a new computer program to handle county accounting of landfill fees and payment was presented by County Treasurer Diana Quicke. The need is caused by faulty handling of inactive accounts under the old program. Overpayment to the city for county use of the landfill resulted.

The city does not challenge the overpayment which amounts



to $11,635.20 at present. The city will pay back the amount in two payments.

The commissioners decided more investigation of possible solutions to the problem was needed and tabled action till next meeting.

Pat Sibal, County Custodian, reported a plumbing leak somewhere in the drain system coming down from the top floor and puddling in the sub-basement. Damage to the building and a possible health hazard is resulting.

An in-pipe camera survey will be run on all lines coming down from the top story. A plan of action will be put together once this scanning is complete.

A report on the county ambulance service was presented by Jim O’Brien.

O’Brien said that  the number of ambulance runs is increasing and collecting less money. He said more accounts are going to collection.

O’Brien said he was interested in operating the service for another year. The commissioners  requested that O’Brien submit a contract proposal at the May 17 meeting.

Kimball Health Service CEO Julie Schnell said the consultant report on possible effect of the hospital operating the service would be available in two weeks.

The commissioners instructed O’Brien to prepare a list of surplus ambulance service equipment that is owned by the county. This equipment might be sold along with other surplus equipment.

The county now has 40 surplus phones since the new phone system has been installed. These used phones can be sold as singles or in packages.
