Ester Julett (Smith) Pearson, 103, long time Arnold resident died May 31, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Care  Center in Callaway, NE.

She was born July 31, 1906 at Ord, NE to Truman L. & Bertha (Vincent) Smith.  The Smith family settled in the Arnold area in 1914.  Ester attended the Yucca Valley grade school and then graduated from the Arnold High School in 1925.

On July 14, 1925 she married Alvin T. Pearson of Etna at her parents home south of Arnold.  In 1940 they moved to Bagley, MN and returned in 1944, where Ester worked for the Arnold Telephone Co.  In 1955 they purchased the Eddyville Telephone Co.  Upon retirement in 1969 they returned to Arnold.

Ester was a lifetime member of the Baptist Church, also active in We Wan Chu Club & Legion Auxillary of Eddyville.

She enjoyed her family, gardening, sewing, and painting.  Her mission in life was helping others.  Ester’s laughter could always be heard and had a wonderful sense of humor.

In 2004 she moved to Callaway with her daughter & husband Joan & Louis Schuster.  Ester enjoyed the farm life until she entered the Care Center in Callaway.

Ester is survived by her children, Donald & (Veneda) of Farmington NM., Stanley & (Beverly) of Kimball, NE., Joan & (Louis) Schuster of Callaway, NE., Jim & (Arlene) of Helen, MT., 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, & 15 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Ann Smith of Callaway, NE & numerous nieces and nephews & friends.

Ester was proceeded by her parents, husband, brothers Hal, Vernon & Dillon and grandson Dale Bennett Pearson.

Memorials are to the First  Baptist Church Arnold.  Visitation at the Arnold Funeral Home was Friday.  Funeral services were held Saturday June 5 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Arnold with the Pastor Irving Jennings officiating,  Burial followed in the Arnold Cemetery.
