Kai Carlson, age 61 of Potter, NE passed away late Sunday evening, June 6, 2010 at her home in Potter.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 11th in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in  Sidney with Rev. Leonard Suhr officiating.  Inurnment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Cremation has taken place, there was no viewing at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potter Rescue Unit or The Salvation Army Food Bank.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service is in charge of Kai’s care and funeral arrangements.

Kai Ruth Carlson, the daughter of Fred Leonard and Twila Adeline (McGinnis) Carlson, was born on January 10, 1949 at Sidney, NE.  She graduated from Potter High School in 1967.  Kai then attended Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff, NE.  Her continued education included RN, BS, BSN, CCRN and CEN degrees in Nursing.  Her nursing career began in Sterling, CO, followed by a move to Florida to work as an ICU Nurse.  Kai moved home in 1999 to care for her parents and worked in Nursing at Glenwood Springs, CO.

Kai loved gardening and working in her yard.  She enjoyed skiing, diving, the outdoors and being around adults and children, as she was just a big kid at heart.

Survivors include:  (1) brother:  Dan Carlson and wife Phyllis of Potter; (4) sisters:  Rita Sutton and husband Randy of Sidney, Beth Zajonc and husband Gene of Lawton, OK, Diane Johnson of Liberty, NE and Helen Killham and husband Miles of Potter; numerous nieces and nephews and special Godchildren:  Ryan, Regina and Christy from Florida.

Kai was preceded in death by her parents and (1) brother:  Dick.
