Richard L. McDowall, 82, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday, June 12, 2010.  Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery with Pastor Mel Daves officiating.  Cremation has been held.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. to sign the register book.  Memorials have been established to the Kimball County Manor or MHC Hospice.  The services for Richard have been entrusted to Cantrell Funeral Home.

Richard “Dick” Lewis McDowall was born in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming on April 3, 1928, the son of James and Minnie (Chappell) McDowall.  He was raised and attended school in Pine Bluffs.  He enlisted in the US Navy on May 9, 1945 and honorably served his country during WWII.  He was discharged on July 24, 1946.  Dick was married to Norma Humphrey in November of 1947.  They were later divorced.  He moved to Oregon in 1963, where  he worked raising and breaking quarter horses and also worked in a lumber mill.  Dick was married to Clata Waldrip in 1964 in Reno, NV.  They also were later divorced.  He was married to Carolyn Green in 1983 in Oregon.   They moved to Pine Bluffs in 1986,  this union also ended in divorce.  He moved to the Kimball County Manor assisted living in 2007.  He loved his children and grandchildren.  He had a life long love of working with and raising horses.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his sons Lonnie (Patty) McDowall of Couer d’ Alene, ID., Richard (Dottie) McDowall, Jr. of Toledo, OR and Larry and (Michelle) McDowall of Eugene, OR; daughter Jodie (Larry) Fleagle of Kimball, NE; brother Jim (Marian) McDowall of Kimball; sister Margaret (Dub) Glass of Corvallis, OR; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  His parents and a nephew preceded him in death.
