With six shows in the books, the High Plains Pro Rodeo series is preparing to take a break before heading into the last two shows and the finals.

Director JP Komorny said the show this weekend will be the last show for almost a month. Events like Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Kimball County Fair will help to fill the rodeo void.

The show this weekend will kick off at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Komorny reminds people that the rodeo is now an open series and not CBR.

In the rough stock competition, three bull riders held on this weekend to take home a check. Justin Thomas scored a 72 to take first. He was followed by Chris House with a 71 and Austin Humphry with a 66.

Ryan Heupel and Tyler Craven both scored a 70 in the Saddle Bronc competition to tie for first place. They were followed by Kimball cowboy Nik Komorny who scored a 65 to take second.

Only two riders held on in the bareback riding. Shane Stevens scored a 67 to take first. Behind him was Matt Smock with a 51.

In barrel racing Casey Tidyman wrapped her horse around the barrels in 17.45 to take first. She was closely followed by Dana Weiser who crossed the line in 17.61. Third place went to Rylee Anderson, 18.05; and fourth to Jan Weiser, 18.09.

In breakaway roping Pine Bluffs, Wyo. cowgirl Lexi Bath took first with a time of 3.56. She beat out Kalle Schaefer who put the rope on her calf in 3.79. Third place went to Dana Weiser who scored a 5.17.

The mixed team roping team of Reatta Hoar and A.J. Franzen took first with a time of 10.99. Britt Bath and L. Bath took second with a time of 11.15. Third place went to the Hoars, Stuart and Samantha.

In standard team roping four teams took home checks. Leading the way was Travis Ekwall and Crocket Herring with a time of 6.70. They were followed by Casey Degabain and B. Bath, 11.57; third went to Jay Teichert and Herring, 12.73; and rounding out the event was Casey Teichert and B. Bath, 14.41.

Jay Perchert took first in tie down roping with a time of 9.93. He was followed by Tracy Bonhoff, 10.42; and Wiley  Cross, 12.85.

High Plains Pro Rodeo has three more shows before the end of the season. The show begins at 7 p.m. and the gates open at 5 p.m. All paid adult entries this weekend will receive a free High Plains Pro Rodeo t-shirt.
