The steers proved to be too fast for team ropers at the High Plains Pro Rodeo event Saturday as only one team was able to score a time.

Stuart and Samantha Hoar put their ropes around a steer in 23.44. Although this was not the best time they have scored at these rodeo events, it was good enough to take home the first place purse.

Wyoming cowgirl Lexi Bath narrowly took first in the breakaway roping event. Bath roped her calf in 3.74. Second place went to Jamie Musseh with a close time of 3.75. Kari Muller scored third, 4.12.

National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association World Champion tie down roper, Troy Pruitt took home the top prize on Saturday. Pruitt has competed at the majority of the rodeo events but up until recently he hasn’t been able to take the prize. Pruitt scored a time of 9.92. Travis Wilson followed with a time of 11.14. Scoring a time of 11.25 was Paul Fornstrom for third.

Bath came out on the top side of a .01 split in breakaway roping, but was on the loosing side in the barrels. Her time of 17.84 was good enough for second but not to unseat Debbie Bedee who ran it in 17.83. Amanda Milton was third with a time of 17.89. Jammie Musselt was fourth, 18.07.

In the rough stock events Colorado cowboy Kevin Kapke was the only rider to hold for bareback riding.

Saddle bronc riders fared better with four staying in their saddles. Ryan Heupel was first with a 77, he was followed by Tyler Craven, 76; Tyrell Hoatson, 74; and Jake Bucheots, 67.

It was a local cowboy who managed to stay on the back of a bull for eight seconds Saturday. LB Shephard scored a 64 point ride to take home the money.
