The 79th Annual Potter Days celebration was kicked off at 6:30 a.m. More than 60 runners and walkers gathered in the early morning streets of Potter Saturday Sept. 4. according to Fun Run/Walk coordinator, Amee Hicks.

In the men’s division, Mitch O’Hare took first, Nick Jones, second, and coming in third was Cooper Hicks. The leading ladies were first, Trisha Kasten, second, Rachel Nelson, and third Colleen Fleener.

The event generated a lot of interest in Potter and overall a success.

“This was the most successful (fun run/walk) ever. It was so exciting!” Hicks proclaimed of the event.

The town streets were lined with seating  as many people gathered early for the parade, they sat and caught up with one another. Just before the “Small Town Dreams” themed  parade, began the barbershop quartet, Equally Delinquent, sang the National Anthem.

Grand Marshals for Potter Days were Barb and Don Dvorak. The Cheyenne County Rodeo Queen, Hannah Reilly, was also in attendance.

Following the parade, celebrants were invited to the Railroad Park for a free barbecue. For the kids, giant inflated water rides and jumping houses were available. Adults found shady areas to talk or visited the vendor’s booths. The Potter/Dix band performed as well.

In the afternoon a melodrama was performed and for the evening entertainment, a street dance.
