A pursuit through Kimball Sunday, ended with the driver of the pursued car striking the gas pumps at the Kwik Stop on the corner of Highway 71 and US 30.

According to Police Chief Doug Provance, at about 2 a.m Sunday morning. Officer Jesse Godden had responded to a potential suicide attempt. Upon locating the vehicle in question a pursuit began. It ended minutes later in the Kwik stop parking lot. The driver received treatment at the scene from members of Kimball ambulance crew. He was later transferred to Scottsbluff Regional West Medical Center.

Provance said no one else was injured in the accident. As to the driver, Provance said it is unknown at this time if the driver was intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. A toxicology report is pending.

The investigation has been turned over to the Nebraska State Patrol.

“I can’t say much because of the police investigation,” Marvin Wright replied when asked why the #3 and #4 pumps at Kwik Stop were gone, “Something really bad happened last night.”

Around 2 a.m. a vehicle accident occurred at the local convenience store.

Wright was vague in answering customer’s questions regarding the missing pumps as well. When asked about injuries Wright didn’t say much either. He could not say whether the vehicle or the driver was local or not.

“When I showed up, the ambulance was leaving,” Wright said.

Schadegg Motors helped with the clean up efforts and removed the destroyed pumps.

“It was an accident there. The cops were chasing somebody and they (the subject) took out the pumps, from what I heard,” Brian Carver said.
