Juanita Christensen was born on the farm in Arco, Minnesota, to Fred and Maude Mae Gutherless, on November 20, 1916.  She was raised in Presho, South Dakota, where she sang in a girl’s quartet and was a cheerleader at Presho High School.  She moved to Nebraska where she became a beautician and opened her own beauty shop in North Platte.  There she also cared for her mother until she passed away.  Later, she moved to Gothenburg to be with her sister, Mamie.  She cared for Mamie until she passed away.

In 1990, she moved to Kimball, NE.  She was a member of First English Church and belonged to the Eagles Lodge.  She always loved fishing, playing cards, Rockies basketball, Broncos football, and, of course, her Cornhuskers.  One of her great loves was bowling.  Always an avid bowler, she bowled into her 90’s.  She brought many smiles and love to many people.  She had a quick wit and great sense of humor.  She had a genuine, heartfelt love of her Lord Jesus and knew this was only her temporary home.  Her family and friends will miss her greatly but rest in the fact that we will see her again.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.  Juanita is survived by her daughter Ella Mae Urban (LaMonte) of Henderson, NV; granddaughters Cynthia Gross (Jeff) and Dawn Urban (Donna) both of Henderson, NV; great-granddaughters Rachael Guistina, Sarah Trozzo, and Gracie Urban-Breed; and 4 great-great grandchildren, Brina, Austen, Jacob, and Christian.

A celebration of Juanita Christensen’s life will be held at Kimball County Manor on Saturday, November 13, 2010.
