Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning announced his plans to run for U.S. Senate after hearing that Gov. Dave Heineman will not be running, Thursday, Nov. 4.

The seat is currently held by Sen. Ben Nelson and will be up for reelection in 2012.

The informal announcement was made to a small group of people at Kimball Junior Senior High School in Kimball, Neb. Bruning was there presenting a $16,000 grant to the school to help fund their new wind energy program.

After the presentation he said, "I would like to take some time to see how Nebraskans react to my candidacy. I think it is pretty clear that Americans are tired of the over spending in Washington."

Bruning will make the official announcement tomorrow morning, Friday, Nov. 5 in Lincoln at 10 a.m.
