The Banner County Wildcats were at Minatare on Tuesday, where the Minutemen won the game, 47-25.

“Our biggest problem was turnovers, we had 26 or 27 of them, we couldn’t control the turnovers,” Coach Jim Wyatt said.

Dakin Rummel led in scoring for Minatare with 19 points, to Banner County’s high scorer, Jordan Knaub with 12.

“We were all right with fouls, but our shooting percentage is not good,” Wyatt said, “We are working on taking better shots in practice and controlling the turnovers too.”

Ed Montelongo had eight steals, and Luke Johnson rebounded eight times and scored five points. Juan Rios scored six points and Brady Lind, two.

The Banner County Wildcats faced Pine Bluffs on Saturday, Dec. 11, and walked away with a loss, 21-44.

The Wildcats played well, according to coaches, and at the end of the first half Banner County held Pine Bluffs and the Hornets were only up by one point.

Coming into the second half Pine Bluffs pressed the Wildcats and scored 23 in the second quarter.

Scoring for the Wildcats were all starters. Junior, Jordan Knaub scored 10 followed by sophomore, Luke Johnson with seven. Juniors, Juan Rios and Ed Montelongo each contributed two points as well.

The Pine Bluffs Hornets out scored Banner County. Blayne Gilbert led in scoring with 12, followed by Michael Curtis with nine. Ryan May and Harley Dalton each scored six.  JC Thurin, Nolan Jeffres, and Eryn Smith each contributed three for the Hornets, and Eric Bond two.

As for rebounds, Juan Rios  led with eight, Luke Johnson followed with six. Ed Montelono rebounded three as did Jordan Knaub.

“The game was closer than the score showed,” assistant coach John-Robert Faden said.
