Robert G. Young, 66, of Gering, died at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, WY. on Friday, December 17, 2010.  Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Trinity United Methodist church in Kimball with Pastor Lynda Parson and Pastor Don Mathis officiating.  Inurnment will be held in the Kimball Cemetery following the service.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. to sign the register.  Memorials have been established to the Trinity United Methodist Church of Kimball or can be given in Robert’s name to the Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore, Cheyenne, WY, 82009.  The services for Robert have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.



Robert G. Young was born in Kimball on January 12, 1944, the son of Robert and Dorcas (Carlson) Young.  He received his education in Kimball and during high school he was active in FFA and raised calfs for one of his projects.  He played baseball and was involved in track.  He was married to Virginia E. Nelson at Trinity United Methodist Church on April 17, 1969 and they made their home on the family farm north of Kimball.  Robert continued to farm with his father until moving to Gering in 1982.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, raising dogs and playing cards.  Robert was a member of the Kimball Jaycees, Kimball Archery Club and was active in the Kimball Bowling League.  He also loved playing billiards.  He enjoyed  spending time with family and friends and enjoyed a good meal.  He had an infectious smile and a wonderful laugh.

Survivors include his wife Virginia of Gering; brothers Don (Clarissa) Young of Yuma, AZ., and Tom Young of Kimball; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Betty Gascoyne and Shirley Willoughby; and a brother-in-law Edward Nelson.
