Jerry L. Palmer, 64 of Bushnell died on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Lynda Parson officiating.  Military Honors will be given by Kimball VFW Post #2243.  Cremation will follow the service with burial of cremains at a later date.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials have been established to the family.  Cantrell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jerry Palmer was born March 14, 1946 in Cheyenne WY to Athes B. and Lulu Bell (Clark) Palmer.  He attended Hillsdale School and moved to Bushnell in 1962.  He graduated in Bushnell in 1964.  Jerry worked at Sky Harbors at Cheyenne Airport.  He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1966 and served during the Vietnam War.  He was discharged on January 17, 1972.  For a time Jerry worked in Woodland Park CO with his brother-in-law.  They moved to Galesburg, IL and worked for Admiral Corp. making appliances.  Jerry was married to Mary Hanner on July 31, 1970 in Galesburg.  They moved to Bushnell in 1971 and he worked for Z & S Construction and later for Orbit Drilling for 10 years.  He  worked as an over the road trucker beginning in 1982 and continued until the time of his death.  He has worked for Dawes Trucking for the last 4 to 5 years.  Jerry had a NASCAR collection and train collection that he enjoyed.  He also enjoyed family reunions and taking his children to different places in the U.S., especially the Black Hills and Disney Land in California.  He was an honorary member of the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Palmer of Holdrege, NE; children, Wade Palmer of Holdrege, NE, Vonda (Terry) McCracken of Fairmont, NE, Tonya (Dale) Krejci of Holdrege, NE and grandchildren Heather McCracken, Cinnamon McCracken, Dylan Palmer, Braden Krejci, Braxten Krejci, Braelyn Krejci and great grandchild Kellen Rimpley; 3 brothers, 7 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.  His parents preceded him in death.
