A 23 point first quarter paved the way to a solid victory for the Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes against Peetz, last week.

The Lady Coyotes set the stage with the 23 point first quarter explosion and held Peetz to only 8.

The tenacious Coyotes nabbed 15 steals and 40 rebounds in the game.

At half time Potter-Dix led 26-18. The Coyotes slipped some in the second quarter scoring only six but allowing Peetz to net 10.

Still, Peetz was unable to gain anymore ground on Potter-Dix trailing 37-23 in the third and of course the final 47-38.

Leading the Coyotes in scoring was Conner Wolff with 16. Wolff shot 4-for-7 at the charity stripe for 57 percent.

Following Wolff was Maranda Heitman with 9. Heitman shot 50 percent for free throws going 1-for-2.

Tiffany LaBeau netted 5 points and also shot 50 percent from the charity line (1-for-2).

Samantha Egging scored 5 points and was 3-for-9 in free throws for 33 percent.

Kristyn Barnes, Stephanie Mitchell and Dani Jones all had four points on the score sheet.

Following the win against Peetz, the Lady Coyotes ran head first into a pugnacious Pine Bluffs Hornets teams. The feisty Hornets filled the Coyotes passing lanes, blocked shots, and basically created havoc for the home team.

The Coyotes fell to the Hornets 37-59.

The visiting Hornets took the lead quickly in the first and never looked back. Pine Bluffs out scored the Coyotes by 11 in the first and four in the second. At half time the home team trailed 20-35.

The Hornets continued to dominate on the floor as they scored 14 in the third and 10 in the fourth while holding Potter-Dix to nine in each. At the buzzer the visitors walked away with the 37-59 win.

Jones was top scorer for Potter-Dix netting 8. She was followed by LaBeau with 7, Barnes and Heitman had 5, Egging 4, Amanda Maas 3 and Wolff with 1.

As a team the Coyotes did force 15 steals but only had 26 combined rebounds (11 offensively and 15 on defense).

Potter-Dix was 46 percent in free throws going 7-for-15.

The Coyotes shot 40 percent in three-pointers going 4-for-10.

With the regular season at an end, Potter-Dix has now entered into sub-district play.

According to head coach Angala Frerichs, the ladies traveled to Mitchell to play against Sioux County this past Tuesday.

Sioux County has a record of 11-6 and will be coming off a loss to Crawford.

Potter-Dix now has a record of 9-9.

This will be the first time these two teams have met this year. Tip off was set for 7 p.m.
