Bernard F. Culek, Jr., 56, died at his home in Kimball, on Friday, March 4, 2011.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Mike Brown officiating.  Inurnment will be held in the Kimball Cemetery.  Memorials have been established to Memorial Health Center Hospice in Sidney.  The services have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Bernard Francis Culek was born in Kimball on September 3, 1954, the son of Bernard and Lucile (Haas) Culek.  Bernie was raised and attended school in Kimball and graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1972.  During school he was active in FFA and wrestling.  He attended business school in Rapid City, South Dakota.  Through his various jobs as a young man, he gained a wealth of knowledge and skills which proved useful when he returned to the farm.  Bernie was married to Anna Velia Alvarado in Watford City, North Dakota on October 9, 1976.  They lived in Sidney, Montana until returning to the family farm in 1981 where they raised their two children Angela Dawn and Nathan Eli.  He loved the land and animals and took great pride in protecting the environment through organic farming.  Due to Bernie and his brother Dan’s hard work, Natural Nutrition Farms recently received a soil conservation award.

Survivors include his wife Anna of Kimball; mother Lucile Culek of Kimball; daughter Angie (Ivan) Schaeffer and their sons Ethan, Caleb and Gage of Gering, NE; son Nathan (Ashley Frank)Culek and their soon to be born son Elijah of Billings, MT; brother Dan Culek of Kimball  His father preceded him in death.
