The Kimball rail spur project may be going stronger once again according to a report given by James Schnell at the regular Community Development Agency meeting following the City Council meeting.

After many calls and much discussion between the CDA, the State of Nebraska, and Castronics it looks like the Memo of Understanding is finally going to be returned.

Schnell reported to the board regarding the project. He says Richard Byer, Director of Nebraska Economic Development, expected Castronics to receive the completed MOU by Friday, March 18.

The engineering company working on the project, Wilson &Co. has seen a renewed interest in the project as well, according the Schnell.

Schnell says the contact at Wilson & Co. expressed optimism at the new contractors wishing to bid on the project and what that interest will do for prices.

According to Schnell, Wilson & Co. expects many larger contracting companies to enter the bidding process, and believe the cost of the project will decrease due to the increased attention.

Also discussed during the CDA meeting is the project house located at 306 S. Washington. The house was purchased by the CDA and then renovated by Kimball High School students.

According to City Clerk Pam Richter the house is almost complete with just carpeting and final cleaning left to do.

The board discussed options to sell the home. Board member Kim Baliman reminded the rest of the board that if they choose to advertise it for sale on their own it could be damaging to local real estate agents.

Richter adds that if the board chose one realtor over another it would be just as detrimental.

The board adjourned into executive session to further discuss options on selling and asking price.

Having been in executive session for less than 15 minutes, the board returned with a decision to advertise the sale of the house by sealed bid with a minimum asking price of $90,000.
