Evelyn M. Adams, age 93 of Potter, NE passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Memorial Health Center Extended Care in Sidney.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 31st in the Prairie West Christian Church in Potter with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating.  Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1-7:00 P.M.

Evelyn Marie Adams, the daughter of Charles Raymond and Jessie Muriel (Sapp) Slama, was born on July 25, 1917 on the family farm twelve miles north of Potter, NE and attended rural school in that area.  On August 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Pharmacist’s Mate First Class Roy Adams in Sidney.  They moved to Atlanta where they spent two years on a Naval Base.  Following the War, they moved to the farm north of Potter where they raised their family.  She was a homemaker and over the years worked at McDonald’s Clothing Store in Sidney and at the Potter Drug Store.  Evelyn was an avid sports fan and loved watching her sons, grandsons, the Huskers and the Rockies compete.

Evelyn was a member of the Potter Chapter of United Methodist Women, the Social Neighbors Club and is Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held both local and state offices.  Evelyn enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing cards, gardening and traveling.  In later years she made over five hundred stocking caps for newborn babies at MHC.

Survivors include (2) sons:  Randy Adams and wife Barb of Torrington, WY and Rex Adams and wife Bev of Potter.  Evelyn was very proud of her (4) grandsons and (6) great-grandchildren:  Joel (Francie) Adams, daughter Tucker and son Colter of Gillette, WY, James Adams and son Kaden of Torrington, WY, Cory (Kim) Adams, daughter Payton and son Riley of Papillion, NE and Andy (Katie) Adams and daughter Lila Belle of Fort Worth, TX.  She is also survived by (2) sisters-in-law:  Ruth Slama and Betty Slama both of Potter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy in 2002 and (2) brothers:  Raymond Slama and Robert Slama.
