Carl D. Carlson, 56, of Kimball, died at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff on Monday, April 18, 2011.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Amanda Esping officiating.  Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m., with a prayer service being held at 6:00 p.m.   Memorials have been established to the Family.  The arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Carl Douglas Carlson was born in Kimball on June 7, 1954, the son of Carl and Marlene (Snyder) Carlson.  He was raised and attended school in Kimball and graduated in 1972.  Doug was very active in his church and the Cub Scouts.  He loved his bible, computers and listening to music.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially for barbeques and holidays.  He had a passion for history and enjoyed searching out his ancestry.  Doug enjoyed arrowhead hunting, antiques, books, music and guns.  He enjoyed motorcycles and owned a motorcycle shop from 1978 until 1984.  He worked at Kimball Auto Parts until the time of his death.  He was very active in AA, and was a mentor to those who struggled with an addiction to alcohol and drugs.  In 2004 he received an Associates Degree from WNCC in Social Services.  Doug was an animal lover and enjoyed his dogs Bonnie and Greta.  He was a very giving person and did whatever he could do to help people in need.  After the death of his father, he spent his time helping to take care of his mother, a person who he loved and would do anything for.

Survivors include his mother Marlene Carlson of Kimball; son Joel (Michelle) Carlson of Kimball; daughter Kim (Bobby) Cavasos of Borea, KT., and a daughter who requested not to be mentioned; sister Becky (Steve) Mannon of Kimball; brother Brian Carlson and family of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Alana, Adrien, Keaton and Teagon; numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.  His father  preceded him in death.
