John “Jack” Lee Selves, 83, of Kimball, died at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff on June 25, 2011.  Funeral services for Jack will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with pastor Dallas Powell officiating.  Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m.  Memorials have been established to the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department.  The services have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Jack Selves was born in Chase County Kansas on August 22, 1927 the son of William and Emily (Wheeler) Selves.  He attended school in Chase County and after graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country during WWII.  Upon being discharged he lived in Arkansas City, KS for three years working in the oil field as a truck driver.  He was married to Joyce Cox in 1950.  He lived in Great Bend and many other towns in Kansas before moving to Kimball in 1969 and continuing his work in the oil field.  During his retirement he enjoyed traveling the country delivering campers from the manufacturer to dealers throughout the United States.  He took pride in his yard and enjoyed doing landscaping.  Jack liked fishing, boating and water skiing and was an antique car enthusiast and had rebuilt two old cars. His family was always very important to him.

Survivors include his sons Norman (Jane) Selves of Kimball and Steve (Debbie) Selves of Montrose, CO; daughters Carol (Jim) Mason of Kearney, NE and Teresa Stevenson-Selves of Kimball; brother Jim Selves of Cottonwood Falls, KS; sisters Elaine Judd of Mattfield Green, KS and Virginia Bush of Anaheim, CA; grandchildren P.J., Marah, Jamie, Greg and Jonathan; great grandchildren Casey, Vycktoryja, Natasha and David; great great granddaughter Jessica.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife brothers Dean and Bill and sisters Kate and Anna Lucy.
