The Kimball Dead Eye Shooters 4-H club joined 48 teams from across the United States at the 46th annual Daisy National BB Gun Championships held in Rogers, Arkansas July 1-3, 2011.  Over 320 youth competed for 2 days in the team event.  Participants from Kimball were team members Madie Snyder, Jaren Winstrom, Janay Brauer, Audrey McDowall, Taylor Terrill and alternates Garrett Pruett and Shauntea Daily.  The team was accompanied by their coaches Larry and Nicole Snyder, Mike Winstrom, Travis Terrill, Stacy Daily, Jim Pruett and other family members.  Scoring for the team was Sherry Winstrom.

 

The team placed 26th overall with a total score of 2226 out a possible 2500.    “We were very proud of the kid and the efforts they made at the event.  We improved our team standing from 35th last year to 26th this year,” reported Coach Nicole Snyder.  “This is a really young team and we expect good things from them in the next few years.”

 

Individual Madie Snyder, the daughter of coaches Larry and Nicole Snyder finished 40th out of 239 individual participants with an aggregate (including test) score of 470 out of a possible 500.  She tied in a 6 way tie for 1st place in the kneeling position with a score of 98 out of 100.  The tie was broken by center shots with Miss Snyder placing 6th overall with a score or 98 and 3 centers.  Individual results are as follows:

Shauntea Daily – 428 – Prone- 82; Standing- 82; Sitting – 86; Kneeling- 88; Test- 90

 

In competition participants complete a 10 bulls eye target in each of the four positions – prone, standing, sitting and kneeling.  Each target has a value of 100 points or 10 points per shot.  In addition to the shooting portion of the event, participants take a 50 question test worth 100 points.  The test covers competition rules and firearms safety.
