Garrett M. Schmoeller, 87, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday, August 27, 2011.  Cremation has taken place.  Memorial services for Gary will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

 

Garrett M. “Gary” Schmoeller, was born October 28, 1922, in Marion, Illinois to Clyde C. Schmoeller and Florind (Diehl) Schmoeller.  He attended school in Alton, Illinois, and was active in high school athletics.  He enrolled at Iowa State with a major in mechanical engineering and was a member of the polo club.  Gary spent two summers working at the Flying V Dude Ranch in Tucson, Arizona.    He married Betty George in Lubbock, Texas, in 1943 and the couple had a son and daughter.  He later married Jean Crandell and they were married for 30 years.  The couple had four children.  Gary worked in the automotive industry selling rubber products and was an assistant sales manager.  He retired to Las Vegas in 1969.  He came out of retirement when he moved to Kimball and became a car salesman.  He was a member of the Kimball Senior Center.

 

He is survived by two sons, four daughters; and one sister.
