A one vehicle accident approximately one mile east of Kimball sent two people to the hospital, according to a report filed by Nebraska State Patrol trooper Travis Ahrendt.

The accident occurred at or shortly after midnight October 1 on U.S. 30 approximately one mile east of Kimball near the Castronics facility.

According to the state patrol report, 27-year-old Adam Warner of Kimball was traveling westbound when he crossed the center line, then veered to the right, entered the ditch and finally careened through a fence before coming to a stop.

The vehicle caught fire, according to the report.

Kimball Volunteer Fire Department teams responded and extinguished the flames. City police and the sheriff’s department assisted the state patrol in the incident.

Warner and a passenger in his vehicle were initially transported to the Kimball Hospital, according to the report, then transported to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Relatives claim Warner suffered multiple bruises and a large gash in the head that may require plastic surgery. He also  complained of smoke inhalation, possibly resulting from the vehicle fire.

The was no word from the state patrol on the identity or condition of Warner’s passenger. Information regarding possible causes of the accident had not been released at press time.
