Loyde A. Aurich, 92, of Dalton, died at the Kimball County Manor on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.  Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton with Pastor Eric Ahlm officiating.  Burial followed in the Dalton Cemetery. The services for Loyde have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball.

Loyde Arthur Aurich was born in Gurley, Nebraska, on February 13, 1919, the son of Oscar and Anna (Dahlkoeter) Aurich.  He was raised and attended rural school near Gurley.  He worked on the family farm after finishing school. Loyde enlisted in the US Army on April 13, 1942, and honorably served his country during WWII, serving in Northern France and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on October 17, 1945.

Loyde returned to Dalton and continued to farm.  He was married to Roberta “June” Jillson in Dalton on August 13, 1947. Loyde and his brother purchased the Dalton Bar in 1949.  He went to work for Marathon Oil in 1952 and retired after 30 years of service in 1982. He enjoyed playing pool and cards, and was known to his friends as “Slick.” He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Trinity Lutheran Church in Dalton. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his sons Norman “Butch” Aurich of Dalton, and Jeff (Kimberly) Aurich of North Platte; daughter Darcee Wheeland of Kimball; grandchildren Kayla Aurich of Lincoln, Tucker (Ashley) Aurich of North Platte, Krindell (Jim) Shepard of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Michael (Lisa) Morlock of Gering; great grandchildren Beckham Aurich, Taylor Shepard, Joshua and Kelsy Leonhardt, Kyla and Emily Bauer and Morgan Morlock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Marvin and Willard “Dick” Aurich and a sister Jeanette Ahlm, and son-in-law Craig Wheeland.
