According to Kimball’s economic development director, Larissa Binod, the city has received bids from several contractors, with $4 to $4.5 million being the average. The engineering firm Wilson & Company, will certify all of the documents submitted by the different contractors. On March 21, the city will announce decision on the contractor.

Binod is now is the process of working with Union Pacific, Castronics and the state of Nebraska on project details and the potential for development surrounding the project. “Currently there is interest in our spur activities,” she explained. “Other companies are aware that the rail spur is happening and there is interest because companies are thinking in six months to a year that may have a rail spur.”

Binod has been working a one-year, a three-year, and a five-year plan for the growth and economic development of Kimball.
