Doris E. Perry, 99, of Kimball, died a the Kimball County Manor on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Lynda Parson officiating. The services for Doris have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Doris Elinor Perry was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska, on October 18, 1912, the daughter of Ed and Lula (Roberts) Lee. They moved to the family homestead 20 miles southwest of Kimball in January of 1913. She attended all eight grades of elementary school in country school district #22. She graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1930. She later attended summer school in Chadron and received her teaching degree. Doris taught in rural school districts #16, #2, and #4 from 1930 until 1936. She was married to Charles Perry in Kimball on June 4, 1936. They lived on the Ida Forsling Farm, which is the old Bay State Cattle Ranch for three years before moving into Kimball. During World War II she taught at school districts #16 and #4 for 4 years. She traveled with her husband on custom harvest for several years. She served as office clerk in the Kimball County Treasurer’s office and the Assessor’s office until her retirement. Doris was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Wesleyan Circle and Senior Friendship Center. She also helped with the community blood drive. She volunteered her time at the Kimball County Manor from 1980 until ill health forced her to retire in 2009. She sold her home and resided at the Assisted Living and in August of 2008 she moved to the Kimball County Manor.

Survivors include two nieces and one nephew and the Perry families that were close to her.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Willis Lee, sister Leula Wynant.
