L.E. Violet Blodgett, 93, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Thursday, March 1, 2012. At her request no services were held. Burial was held in the Kimball Cemetery.  Memorials in Violet’s name may be made to the Kimball Cemetery, in care of Cantrell Funeral Home. Lillian Eleonora Violet Blodgett was born on the family homestead, southwest of Kimball on August 25, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Phillips) Norberg. She attended Kimball County Schools and graduated from the Kimball County High School in 1935. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. She taught in Kimball County Schools for seven years and was also a 4-H leader. She was married to Eugene L. Blodgett in Sidney on September 7, 1944. Violet was a member of the Dix and Kimball Presbyterian Churches, the Panhandle Walkers Volksport Club, Life member of the Plains Historical Society and a past member of Extension and Garden Clubs and the Plains Genealogical Society.

Survivors include her daughter Luan Anderson of Denver, Colorado; grandsons Scott Blodgett of Kimball and Shawn Blodgett of Denver;  sister-in-law Ruth Norberg of Bushnell, and Frances Norberg of Dallas, Texas; grandsons Michael Boldgett of Atwood, Kansas, and Hayden Blodgett of Scottsbluff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on November 20, 1973, son Roy on July 27, 1986; sister Rose Norberg and brothers Bernard and Donald Norberg.
