Irene Young, 88, of Scottsbluff, died at her home in Scottsbluff on Friday, March 23, 2012.  Her wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Irene’s life will be held at the Kimball Event Center on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. There will also be a coffee held at 10:00 a.m. on March 28, 2012 for family and friends at the Residency in Scottsbluff in memory of Irene. Irene Young was born January 10, 1924, to Henry and Anna (Honstein) Burback in Broadwater, Nebraska.  She attended school in Kimball.  After high school graduation she worked in Denver, and later at Hickam Air Force Base at Honolulu and Oahu, Hawaii. After World War II ended she met James (Bud) Young at a dance in Albin, Wyoming. They were later married and lived on a farm in Banner County Nebraska. In 1959 they moved to Kimball.  In 1992 they moved to The Residency in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Charlotta Young of Kimball and Mark and Katherine Young, of Boulder, Colorado.   Also granddaughters Carrie Zamora of Kimball, Kelly Young of Fort Collins, Colorado, Erika Strote (Justin) of Fort Collins, and Megan Hickman (Dalton) of Seattle, Washington, 4 great-grandchildren and one brother, Harry Burback of Kimball.  Her parents, her husband James, five sisters and five brothers preceded her in death.
