Lorna J. Stahla, 94, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Funeral services for Lorna will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball with Reverend Amanda Esping officiating.  Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m., with the family present from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Condolences may be given to the family at www.cantrellfh.com.  Memorials have been established to the First English Lutheran Church or the Kimball Senior Center. The services for Lorna have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Lorna JoAnn Stahla was born in Mansfield, South Dakota on June 23, 1917, the daughter of John and Matilda (Schnittger) Stellner. She was raised and attended school in Mansfield. She worked in Redfield, South Dakota before moving to Kimball in 1949. She started working for Stahla Homes and soon after she was married to Henry Stahla in 1954. Together they had a total of 11 children.  Lorna enjoyed piano music, bowling and her church. She was a loving mother and always looked beyond her needs to make sure the needs of her children were taken care of first.

Survivors include her children Ray (Diane) Stahla of Loveland, Colorado, George (Maria) Stahla of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jean Winchester and  Tim Silver of Rose Bud, Australia, Ella Johnson of Kimball, Norma (John) Nail of Timnath, Colorado,  Jack Winchester (Jeanie) of Cheyenne, Mar (Rob) Hilkemeier of Denver, Colorado, Henry (Ellen) Stahla of North Platte,  Dar (Tom) Gardener of Kimball, Dave (Toni) Stahla of Kimball; 23 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Harley Winchester, her husband Henry Stahla, daughter Rosie Walsh, brothers Albert, Lawrence and Vernan and sisters Edna and Arline.
