Charles Roland Singleton 81 of Dix, passed away March 24, 2012. His memorial service will be Monday, at Dix Bible Church, April 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Memorials in Charles’s name may be made in care of the Dix Bible Church or South Eastern Art Assoc.  Online condolences may be left at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff assisted the family with arrangements.

Charles was born in Kimball, April 7, 1930, at his parent’s home. Charles married his one and only true love, Betty Mae Lamb and to this union was born Joseph M. and Charles Mark Singleton. Charles resided on the family ranch in Banner County after serving in the U.S. Army. Charles raised Hereford cattle and enjoyed riding horses. He was a cowboy his entire life and rode rough horses and worked cattle until he got ill in March 2012.

He was very proud of serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was very much an American, he loved America and all that she stood for.  Charles was very active in the American Legion were he began as post commander for the Dix Unit, District Commander, Area D Vice, Area D Cmdr. and achieved  Department of Nebraska Commander or State Commander 1974-1975. He encouraged Betty his wife to become active in the American Legion Auxiliary where she went on to become State president something they did and believed in together.  Charles was a true American where he appreciated the freedoms that we are all so fortunate to have. He served on the church board at Dix Bible Church for more than 10 Years.

Charles is survived by his son Joseph & Laura Singleton of Banner County, grandsons Charles J. and Shavonne, Big Springs, Jake W. and Kayla, Kearney, and great granddaughter Emily of Big Springs.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Joseph F. Singleton, Rosalie Beard Singleton, wife Betty Mae Singleton, son Charles Mark Singleton and granddaughter Casie Mae Singleton.

Charles will be greatly missed.
