David T. Wilkinson, 96, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Monday, May 29, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Chris Plantz officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Friends can visit www.cantrellfh.com to view the obituary and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given to St. Hilda’s Episcopal Church or the Donor’s Choice. The arrangements for Dave have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

David Thomas Wilkinson was born on March 17, 1916 at the Wilkinson Rocky Hollow Ranch in Banner County, the son of Thomas Anthony, Jr. and Martha (King) Wilkinson. He received his education in the Kimball Public Schools, graduating on May 23, 1936. He entered the US Army in July of 1941 and served in the south pacific during WWII until his discharge in August of 1945. Dave worked as an auto mechanic, assisted in the operation of the Wilkinson Sheep Ranch and later farmed for himself.

On December 5, 1951 he was married to Beatrice Yaege, the daughter of Otto G. and Dolly (Cross) Yaege at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff. Dave was a member of St. Hilda’s Episcopal Church, life member of VFW Post #2243 in Kimball, past member of the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department and the Kimball Cemetery Board. He enjoyed sports, reading, geography and history, espically the local history of Kimball and Banner Counties and their residents “We’ll ask Dave” was often heard around the local coffee shops.

He is survived by his wife Bea of Kimball and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Naomi Fiegenschuh, Ruth Smith, Vivian Travis and Frances Trofholz.
